5th Lap II - Southern Yorke Peninsula to Whyalla

Image
THE FIFTH LAP Southern Yorke Peninsula South to Whyalla (Day 16 - 18 ) Previous:   Yorke Peninsula ( Dhilba Guuranda-Innes National Park ) Photo Album:    Southern Yorke Peninsula to Whyalla After a magnificent day in Dhilba Guuranda-Innes National Park, it was time to figure out the best way to explore the rest of Yorke Peninsula. There were more beautiful coastal sites to visit at the top of the "boot," north of the National Park. From there, I planned to head across to the southeastern coast to check out a few coastal towns before continuing north towards Port Augusta and the Eyre Peninsula, over the next couple of days. Gym Beach Gym Beach seemed like a good place to start since I didn't have time for the hike from Brown Beach yesterday, which would have taken four hours. Unfortunately, Gym Beach turned out to be not particularly remarkable, but there were still interesting pictures to be had with the drone. Daly Head Further along the coast, Daly H...

5th Lap - Pausing and return to Sydeny

THE FIFTH LAP Pausing and Return to Sydney (The Excruciating Journey ) Previous:   Adelaide, grafitti, and beaches Photo Album:   Pausing and returning to HOME As we mapped out our journey ahead, life threw us a curveball: one of our beloved family members fell seriously ill. The decision was clear—we had to return HOME. After dropping Julia at the airport, Sandi and I hit the high roads, putting our grand adventure on hold, hopefully just for a short while. Cruising up the highway to Port Wakefield, Sandi made the unexpected detour eastward, heading towards Mildura, Victoria. Normally, this would be a two-day drive, but in a pinch, I’ve done it in 18 hours. Safety first, though! We wanted to get home swiftly, but in one piece. All was smooth sailing until we hit Gawler. That’s when Sandi decided to play the “limp mode” game, slowing down with alarming frequency and dur...

5th Lap - Adelaide City & Beaches

THE FIFTH LAP Adelaide graffiti & Beaches Previous:  Gems in the Adelaide Hills Photo Album:  Adelaide City & Beaches Playing dumb tourist time has come, this is only way to see a metropolis, even for a 20-minutes city like Adelaide.  We took public transports, walk and drive, with enough batteries in the cameras. There are number of free public transport routes and also concession for interstate visitors, which we took advantage of,  one could also take up a Beam share ride .  Beam Share Rides are all over the city However, our preferred mode for exploring a city, has always been the self-powered way, walk.  This time, no exception. While there are plenty more happy tourist snaps in the photo album link above, or here:-    Adelaide City & Beaches , I found most interesting are the graffiti, and we actually "caught" a couple of graffiti artists in their act, very well organized. And I found this particular on...

5th Lap -Gems in the Adelaide Hills

THE FIFTH LAP Gems in the Adelaide Hills Previous:  Mt Gambier and Coorong National Park Photo Album:  Gems in the Adelaide Hills Finally, we were in another metropolis.  Perhaps, it is an overstatement for the 10-minute city...oops, sorry, it is now a 20-0minutes city. The beautiful city of Adelaide. It was a city I visited umpteenth times, but never quite got there, meaning exploring. It was business trips in the 70s to 90s, doing the usual airport-hotel-meeting-airport routine. And then, the drive by trips through our different expeditions to South Australia in the last decade. Aside from playing dumb tourist in this beautiful city, which is secondary for this trip, we were here to catchup with my nephew, an experienced naturalist and diver  He recently relocated his young family to Adelaide from the politically repressive Hong Kong, and also to see an old friend.  First, my nephew re...
